I don’t think either host has used the hand crank washing machine. Centrifugal force doesn’t clean as well as agitation, as it traps water and doesn’t let it flow. My family used a hand crack one summer when the well was low. After two weeks we went back to the #2 washtub and ”washboard” by rubbing the clothes together. The crank washer was ok for a second rinse, as the centrifugal force pushed water into the clothes and kinda pressed the soap out.
